Dyme Def's Latest "Sex Tape"
For awhile there, until Seattle hip-hop's 2009 explosion, Dyme Def were leading the charge as the city's next potential group to go large. It's not that they've fallen off, but rather spent a good chunk of time last year either recording new material or touring, all of which kept them away from the local hype machine.
The South Seattle/Renton natives recently kicked off a partnership with local clothing label Two in the Shirt (TITS) to create a "Sex Tape" series
The new video for "Do Something," released yesterday from Dyme Def isn't totally in the NSFW category, but it is racy and filled with sexual innuendos in almost every frame.

I'm not mad at the local hip-hop crew for making this. It was shot by one of my favorite photographers of all time, Estevan Oriol, and also features Seattle-bred porn star Gianna Michaels prominently. I don't think any of the popular Cap Hill rap groups could land either of the above names for a music video so Dyme Def must be doing something right. I was supposed to be at the video shoot but didn't make it.
Epic fail on my part.
