Crime Fail: Chimney Burglar Charged

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee February 22, 2010

After spending seven hours trapped in the chimney of a Seward Park home on Friday, Shon Michael Shanell now faces charges for his embarrassing failed burglary attempt.

Shanell was arrested after police pulled him from the chimney of a home in the 7700 Seward Park Ave South at about 7:00 p.m. on Friday night where, court records say, he'd been stuck since noon. Today, prosecutors filed attempted burglary charges against Shanell.

Shanell is being held on $100,000 bail. His is arraignment is scheduled for March 4th.

Shanell had just been released from jail, where he was being held on a posession of a stolen vehicle charge, court documents say.
