The Morning Blotter

Tasing In the New Year: When you ring in the new year by getting punched in the face in a nightclub and then Tasered by police, things can only get better, right? According to a police report, officers in Pioneer Square were standing outside of the Last Supper Club on New Year's Eve when they saw a man walk out of the club bleeding from his mouth and nose. He "did not appear panicked or upset," Officer Thomas Burns wrote in his report. Police say the man looked at officers, walked up to a man and a woman standing on the street, spoke with them briefly, and suddenly started swinging at the other man. A crowd quickly gathered as the men fought, and Officer Burns pulled out his Taser and zapped the bleeding man. Police placed the man under arrest. According to the report, the brawl was the result of a previous fight inside the club, where man threw a "sucker punch" at the other man. Police arrested the man they saw take the first swing outside of the club, and booked him into the King County Jail.

Bear Trap: Two Washington men busted in black market bear gall bladder sting. I also wrote about a similar galling (ha!) crime last year.

Pushback: Attorney General Rob McKenna will fight court ruling which could give Washington felons the right to vote.
