Student Assaults Teacher at Cleveland High School
A violent altercation at a South Seattle high school earlier this week ended with a teacher in the hospital and one student in lockup.
A police report for the January 25th incident says a teacher at Cleveland High School had asked the student to complete some work in class, which apparently angered the young man.
The report says the student became enraged, ripped up his papers, and slapped the teacher, cutting his lip.
The teacher was taken to the hospital where and received four stitches in his lip. The report says the gash was caused by a button on the boy's jacket.
The student was expelled and arrested at his home in south Seattle.
When police interviewed the boy, he admitted to hitting the teacher "because was standing next to him..and wanted [him] "out of his personal space." The teen was booked into the Youth Service Center following the incident.
