Road Rage in Northgate
Sometimes it pays to say you're sorry.
An officer sitting in traffic on January 6th near 1st Ave NE and NE 107th spotted a man on a green motorcycle angrily waving his arm at a car behind him. "It appeared that this vehicle may have turned into the motor-cyclist's lane without seeing him," Officer Loren Street wrote in the report.
Officer Street then watched as the motor-cyclist approached the driver's window, punched him in the head, and drove off.
Police pulled the motorcyclist over in the 2300 block of Northgate Way and spoke with him about the incident. According to the report, the motorcyclist told Officer Street he became enraged when the driver, who was talking on his cell phone, nearly caused an accident. The motorcyclist also told Office Street that this one "not on of the proudest days of [his] life" and was apologetic.
The report says Officer Street "admonished" the motorcyclist for punching the driver, but as the driver did not attempt to contact the officer after the incident, no arrest was made. "[I]t was clear to me that he already realized his mistake as he was very humble and about the entire incident," Office Street wrote.
