Phillips Reportedly To Join Rs in Vote for Drago

By Erica C. Barnett January 4, 2010

I'm heading down momentarily to the county courthouse, where King County Council members are reportedly close to breaking the deadlock on appointing a replacement for Dow Constantine, who left the council to take his new position as King County Executive last year.

Multiple sources say Larry Phillips, a Democrat, now plans to switch his vote and side with Republicans, who want to appoint former Seattle City Council member Jan Drago as a "placeholder" until an election can be held in November. Drago lives in Pioneer Square; Constantine lives in West Seattle.

Phillips has not returned a call for comment.
