Man Arrested For New Years Brawl, Arson Threat At Aquarium

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee January 6, 2010

Police arrested a man at a private party on the waterfront on New Year's Day after the man apparently drank like a fish, got in to a fight, and threatened to burn down the aquarium.

Around 1:30 a.m., a man inside the party grabbed another partygoer, put him in a headlock and punched him in the head. Security broke up the fight, escorted the first man outside and told him to leave. Twenty minutes later, security staff found that the man had made his way back inside the aquarium, and started another fight in a VIP room. Again, security escorted the man outside, where he turned to bouncer and, according to  police report, said "What is this building made of, wood? Bet it would burn pretty good."

Police arrived and took custody of the man. When officers interviewed the man, they noticed he was clearly intoxicated. The man became "loud, belligerent, and uncooperative," the report says, and told an officer "You know what? I'm done with this. You can talk to my lawyer." Moments later, he told police  "You know what? I'm just being a dick. There is not a lawyer."

As police escorted the man to a nearby patrol car, the police report says the man "became aggressive" and officers were forced to take him to the ground. Officers eventually got the man into the car and he was later booked into the King County Jail.
