Cycle Rage in the U District
Last week in the University District, a cyclist proved that drivers aren't the only ones susceptible to road rage.
According to a police report, a man called police on January 22nd and and said he'd been attacked by a cyclist near NE 42nd on University Way. The man told police he was crossing the intersection when a cyclist ran through the red light and yelled at him to "watch where he was going." The man yelled back at the cyclist and kept walking.
The report says the cyclist circled back and both men exchanged words and gestures, and again parted ways.
Moments later, the report says, the cyclist rode up behind the man, punched him in the back of the head, and fled. The cyclist is described in the report as a white male in his forties with a beard, wearing a yellow bicycle jacket with black sleeves and a gray bicycle helmet with a mirror.
Police weren't able to find the cyclist following the incident.
