West Seattle Middle School Firebombed

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee December 18, 2009

Police are investigating an attempted arson at Madison Middle School in West Seattle after someone hurled a Molotov Cocktail at the school's playground, a police report says.

According to the report, Madison staff called police last Saturday after an employee "found that a Molotov cocktail had been used to blow a hole into the floor of the school playground." The report says Madison's playground is actually on the roof of a building on the campus.

The fire burned and caved in several cement tiles on the playground, but did not burn down through the roof. Police found pieces of glass and a bottle cap which smelled of gasoline.

We'll see if we can track down additional info on the incident later today.
