Gang Forces Man to Rob Store A man told police that several gang members forced him to rob a store in Northgate earlier this month and threatened to shoot him, a police report says. A recently released police report says that on December 16th, the young man was waiting at the Northgate Transit Center when three teens walked up to him and asked if he wanted to buy an iPod Touch. The man declined to purchase anything from the group, which apparently upset the teens, who attacked him, stole his Blackberry, and took off running towards the mall. The man chased the group down and tried to get his cell phone back until one of the teens in the group threatened to shoot him. One of the teens then told him that if he wanted his phone back, he would have to shoplift several iPods from a store in the mall. The man agreed to shoplift the iPods, the report says, "because he wanted his cell phone back and he feared for his life." The man entered a store—which is not identified in the report—with one of the teens following him, but he was unable to steal any iPods because there were only display cases on the store's shelves. The teen then directed him to steal several other MP3 players. Outside of the store, the man handed over the MP3 players to the group of teens. Instead of handing back the man's cellphone, the group of teens told him to go back in and steal another MP3 player. The man did as he was told and returned with another MP3 player. Again, the group refused to return his cell phone and threatened to hurt the man if he didn't leave the mall. The man went home and talked to his mother about the incident—it's possible the victim in this case is himself in his teens, but that info isn't contained in the police report—and she advised him to call police. Police interviewed the man, who told officers the members of the group were all 15-16 years old, and believes they may be members of the Deuce 8 gang.
