The Morning Blotter
Young Guns: King County prosecutors have charged two boys—12 and 14 years old—with first degree robbery after they allegedly held up a gas station employee on Aurora last week. According to court documents, the two boys walked into the store at 84th and Aurora on December 3rd carrying a BB gun. The 12-year-old pointed a handgun at the clerk, court records say, and demanded he "open the cash register and get down on the ground." When the clerk said he couldn't open the register, the boy said "open the cash register or I'll shoot you." In the end, the boys only got away with a package of mints. An officer responding to the scene spotted the 12-year-old run onto Wilson Pacific/Interagency School at 13th and 90th. Police were able to identify the second boy using surveillance footage taken at the gas station and with help of school staff. Court records say the 12-year-old boy also was busted trying to shoplift from the University Bookstore last month.
