PubliCola Comment of the Day Goes To...
We originally ran this post on Xmas-eve day, so we're worried a lot of you may have missed it.
We're giving a "Comment of the Day" to this Cola reader who goes by "Comment" just so we can keep our cautionary tale from Portland front and center.Former anti-Establishment Portland Mayor Tom Potter rides into office in 2004 (and out in 2008.)
6. comment says:
there is a disease among the left, progressives in the USA — we don’t know what to do with power if we win it.
So yes, great post, the job is now to decide and deliver, not to listen. Take some actions NOW.
-Get your finance team to quantify DBT overrun risk per household. Make some transit improvements NOW. -Announce date of education summit and How Seattle is Going to Get Some of the Federal Dollars Gregoire passed up. Get a dropout scorecard going on every school and have neighborhood summits to ask citizens and groups — what is YOUR contribution goign to be to meet our goal of Reducing Dropout Rate by 8 points a year and getting it Down to Zero in Four Years..
–Get on the broadband thing, but now.
Power flows to you (keeps flowing to you, that is) from the grass roots if and only if now you deliver.
You already listened; we get it, you are a listener. Great. WE voted you in.
Now, deliver.
