Police Looking for Serial Purse Snatcher

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee December 3, 2009

A recently released police report shows police are looking at a possible connection in a series of strong-arm robberies in South Seattle.

On November 22nd, a woman called police to report a purse snatching. The woman told officers she was walking home from church when a man approached her at 39th Ave S and S Orcas, pushed her to the ground, ripped her purse from her arm, and fled.

The woman ran after the purse snatcher, but he got into a white sedan and drove off, taking her umbrella, house keys, driver's license, credit cards, $40 in cash, and pearl rosary beads with him.

Police believe the purse snatching may be related to two other strong arm robberies, but the report does not provide details about the other incidents. "In each case the suspect waits until just after dark to complete the robberies," the report says.
