MS-13 Gang Members Kidnap, Shoot At Student
SPD Gang Unit detectives were called to Roosevelt High School earlier this month to interview a student who said he had been kidnapped and nearly shot by members of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang near his home in northeast Seattle.
The timing of the incident is unclear in the report, but sometime in mid-November the student was at his home after school when he heard someone at the front door. When the student opened the door, the report says, he was attacked "by six Hispanic males who he thought were MS-13 gang members." All of them wore blue bandannas over their heads and faces.
The group entered the student's home and two men stuck a knife in his back. The student also told police that three of the men had handguns, and that he recognized one of his assailants.
The group of men forced the student out of his home at knifepoint and interrogated him about "snitching" out a friend.
The group then forced the student down the street near his home and pushed him into an alley. The group asked him several questions about "where his friends lived, and what hours they were home," the report says. One of the men in the group then pulled out a silenced handgun and said they should kill the student.
The man with the gun then fired off three or four rounds at the student's feet. One of the group members then kicked the boy in the back and told him to go home.
According to the report, this wasn't the first time the student has had a run-in with gang members. The report says that several weeks after the first incident, the group of men showed up at the student's home, forced him outside, tossed his phone on the ground, and punched him in the head before they let him go.
The student told police he was too scared to report the incidents to police after they happened.
MS-13 has been popping up in a number of police reports in the North Precinct over the past few weeks. In mid-November, another Roosevelt High School student told police that a MS-13 gang member harassed her on a bus and followed her to her home in Ballard.
Earlier this month, a Ballard High School student also told police she was attacked by MS-13 members after she tried to leave the gang.
