Police are investigating an attempted arson after someone tried to broil a car parked near Daniel's Broiler in South Lake Union last week.

At about 2:00 a.m. on December 4th, police received a call about a "suspicious person" trying to set fire to a vehicle in a parking lot at 901 Fairview Av N, next to Daniel's Broiler and Joey's.

A man who works in the area told police he pulled into the parking lot and saw "flames rising up from the rear of the vehicle near the gas cap." Another witness at the scene told police she'd seen a man run from the area moments earlier.

The police report says the suspected arsonist used dried leaves to set the fire, which, fortunately, burned out rather quickly.
