Man Beaten, Robbed in Cowen Park

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee December 9, 2009

A man was severely beaten during a robbery in Cowen Park late last month, a police report says.

According to the report, the man told police he'd been in the park drinking with friends at about 6:00 p.m. on November 29th when he went into the bushes to pee. A group of men approached him, the report says, and demanded money. The man refused, the report says, and two of the men in the group hit him with a "blunt object [possibly a metal pipe] about 20-30 times all over his body." The third man in the group took the victim's backpack and $60 cash, and the group fled.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for "severe lacerations" on his head. No arrests were made.
