Announces Candidacy For Congress
Four-term State Representative and local transportation and economic development expert Deb Wallace today announced her candidacy for the United States House Of Representatives from the 3rd Congressional District.
“Our country faces some of its greatest challenges it has ever encountered and we are in the toughest economic climate I have seen in my generation. Now is the time for leaders in Washington, D.C, who are ready to roll up their sleeves, reach across party lines and tackle these challenges head on,” said Deb Wallace. “Reaching across the aisle, never shying from a tough fight and focusing on the needs of my constituents have been the hallmark of my time in Olympia and I am ready and excited to take that record to Washington, D.C.”
Currently, Rep. Wallace serves as the Chair of the Higher Education Committee in the State House of Representatives. She also sits on the Transportation Committee, the Education Appropriations Committee and the Audit Review and Oversight Committee.
During her time in the legislature, Deb led the effort to bring critical new transportation projects to Southwest Washington. In her last two sessions, Deb has focused on maximizing every higher education dollar during this economic downturn to ensure our children receive the job skills to prepare them to compete in the global economy.
“From day one, I’ve been committed to being open and accessible to my constituents and being responsive to their needs. My focus has been investing prudently and in a fiscally responsible manner to improve education, modernize our transportation network, encourage economic development and job growth and ensuring public safety. I’ve always believed that government should live within its means, just like our families do and I will bring that same approach to Congress,” added Wallace.
Wallace is the former President of the Downtown Vancouver Association. She has served on the boards of Lower Columbia River Estuary Association and 211-INFO. Deb is also known for founding the Airport Green Neighborhood Association
In their 2008 endorsement of Deb Wallace, The Vancouver Columbian had this to say:
“Versatility and dedication have marked Wallace’s three terms as state representative. Since emerging as a Democratic Dunn-beater in 2002, Wallace has excelled, first, in transportation issues and, in the past two sessions, in education matters.”
Deb has lived in Vancouver, Wash., for over 21 years with her husband John. They have three grown children.
