In this installment of PubliCola's Warren Taste Test, Warren Etheredge interviews  local rock and roller Rachel Flotard, whose band Visqueen recently released their third album (including backing vocals from Neko Case and  backing rock from The Long Winters) Message for Garcia.

Flotard released the album on her own brand new label, Local 638—an homage to her father, a New York City unionized steamfitter. Flotard interrupted her successful career (gigging with Guided by Voices, for example) to care for her father until his death this April.

Now she and Visqueen are back with a power pop record that's getting raves on ... CNN?
