Eddy was commenting on today's cool thread about the WTO.

And while there were several good comments—Justin, TPN, Trevor—challenging my post, I have to give the comment of the day to Giffy. Not just because he? she? agrees with my POV, but because of the lovely anecdote.

I agree. I feel the same way about them as I do Congress. Not a fan of all the people involved, not a fan of what they do half the time, but I am a big fan of the institution and think it is both necessary and essential.

In my more idealistic naive high school days I attended the WTO protests and actually had a great talk with a guy form Nepal who was there as an observer. I asked him why he was taking part and he said that he was working to make the organization better. We were interrupted by a slogan chanting idiot as soon as KIRO turned their cameras on us, but I have come to accept that guys position that these bodies are important and we should engage them as progressives, not fight them.
