Person of Interest in Greenwood Arsons Arrested
A man was arrested early this morning near the site of a three-alarm blaze at an abandoned warehouse on 169th and Aurora.
From the PI:
Detectives with the Police Department's arson and bomb squad are questioning the man. Police did not give his age but said officers continue to investigate the Greenwood arsons.
Crews from six different fire departments fought the blaze in the building, which formerly housed N.W. Discount World, for 4 1/2 hours early Friday morning. The fire destroyed the building and closed Aurora Avenue in both directions from North 155 Street to North 175 streets.
The 46-year-old man was booked into the King County Jail just before 9:00 a.m. this morning. King County and Seattle Municipal Court records show he has an extensive criminal history, including drug, theft, trespassing and, according to the Seattle Times, prior arson convictions.
Earlier this week, police and fire officials met with neighbors in Greenwood to address concerns about a number of fires set in the area.
