An eight-year Seattle Police Department veteran officer is still in the hospital recovering from injuries, sustained during a chase this weekend.

Yesterday, police scoured the Bitter Lake neighborhood looking for a teenage boy who fled from police inside of his apartment in the 13500 block of Linden Avenue North. The teen was picked up by police during a traffic stop Saturday morning and was taken home to his mother, who told officers the boy had given them a false name.

The teen fled through an apartment window, and the officer followed, thinking the window was at street level. The window was actually two stories up, and the officer fell 25 feet. According to Harborview spokeswoman Susan Gregg-Hanson, the officer was brought to Harborview in serious condition. He has since been upgraded to "satisfactory" condition, but is still in the hospital.
