Update on Yesterday's Poll

By Josh Feit October 14, 2009

The Mike McGinn camp contacted us this morning with questions about Precision Polling. Precision helped us with the poll we published yesterday.

Team McGinn thought it was unusual for us to use Precision because Precision has done work for his opponent, Joe Mallahan.

Legit concern, and we should have noted it yesterday. Here's the deal: Precision provides  inexpensive, DIY automated survey software. They set us up with software that orchestrates robo calls and tabulates results. (In short: They are not a consultant, nor a traditional pollster.)

We provided the lists. We wrote the questions, and we recorded our own script.

We used a separate consulting firm (WinPower)—that does not work with Mallahan—to help us put together and analyze the poll.

By the way, our poll showed Mallahan with a much smaller lead than reports we were getting about Mallahan's internal polling.
