Rap Guidance

By Anand Balasubrahmanyan October 7, 2009

Really good night for rap music.

First: Free at the Vera Project, electro rap pioneers GMK (sigh) and Thee Satisfaction.

Then if you wanna spend some money, the coolest guidance counselor in Minneapolis, Brother Ali, is headlining at Neumos. Ali spins humane raps about poverty, Islam, and  race (he was born albino and indentifies as black).

He even does the anti-Eminem, offering a full and sympathetic picture of his and his ex-wife’s flaws and subsequent divorce. And he lets you share in the catharsis.
