Extra Fizz: McGinn Scores an SEIU Endorsement
Joe Mallahan has scored most of the union endorsements in town, including biggies like the King County Labor Council, the AFL-CIO, and the Metro bus drivers union
This morning, however, SEIU 925—which represents clerical and service workers at the U.W. and in K-12 public schools in King County (not Seattle)—endorsed McGinn.
Last week, McGinn picked up another proletarian endorsement, winning the nod from the United Food and Commerical Workers union.
UPDATE: SEIU 775, the powerhouse health care workers union (and big Nickels backer), has not endorsed either candidate yet and spokesman Adam Glickman tells PubliCola they are "still undecided."
He says: "we've had good conversations with both candidates, but it's a tough decison. They're both newcomers and neither one has a track record on our issues."
Glickman wouldn't say when or even if Local 775 was going to endorse in the race, adding simply, "it's taking longer than usual for us to get a sense of these two candidates."
