Gang Stabbing Near Westlake Center

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee October 29, 2009

A man in his early 20s was taken to Harborview last Friday after he was apparently stabbed by a rival gang member near Westlake Center.

According to a police report, on at about 8:45 p.m. on October 23rd, the man was walking down 4th and Pike when another man in his late 30s came up behind him and stabbed him in the back with a 2-inch folding knife. The victim says the man did not try to rob him.

The the victim told officers he believed he'd been stabbed after the other man saw his "flag"—a colored rag or bandanna indicating gang affiliation—hanging out of his pocket, the report says. The victim refused to tell police which gang he belongs to.
