Contribution of the Day

By Erica C. Barnett October 2, 2009

Former Republican U.S. senator Slade Gorton (R-WA) has given a total of $350 to City Attorney Tom Carr, according to a campaign finance report filed yesterday.

Although Gorton is a frequent contributor to statewide and regional races (giving this year, for example, to conservative Port of Seattle Commission candidates Tom Albro and David Doud, Republican-backed King County Executive candidate Susan Hutchison, and Republican King County Council incumbent Reagan Dunn), he hasn't typically been active on the local level.

Besides Carr, the only Seattle candidate to whom Gorton has contributed since 1997 is city council candidate Sally Bagshaw, although his wife, Sally, did give money this year to Mayor Greg Nickels.
