Weekend Fizz from GameNerd

Today be Talk Like A Pirate Day! Avast! Hoist the mateys! Uh, scurvy. A few options if you mean to celebrate:

1) If you use Facebook, change the language setting. "Settings" --> "Language" --> "English (Pirate)"—it's funny for 8 seconds.

2) Enjoy a free download of Tales of Monkey Island, Episode One, a brief chunk of humorous, puzzly adventuring. It's all point-and-clicky stuff, done in the mold of '80s adventure games. Recommended.

3) Or play some Dungeons & Dragons. There's no tie-in to the pirate thing, but the guys at Wizards of the Coast are hosting an International D&D Day today at hobby shops around the world to promote a new D&D book, Dungeon Master's Guide 2. Seattle locations include Gary's Games and Hobbies (87th and Greenwood) and the, er, Magnusen Health Sciences Center at UW, where official Wizards folks will hold your hand and teach you game basics if you've never played before (or set you up in a veteran game if you have). If you ask nicely, they may even say "Arrrrr..."
