The Only Organic Beer Produced in Seattle

By Morning Fizz August 12, 2009

1.
King County Executive candidates Susan Hutchison and Larry Phillips will face off on KUOW this morning, 94.9 FM at 10:20.

2.
Speaking of Hutchison: Yesterday, we reported that Hutchison, who despite all indications otherwise says she's not a Repbulican—received the  maximum $1,600 contribution from the Eastside Republican Club ( a group that says  its top objective
is "to provide financial and volunteer support for Republican candidates.")

And the Seattle Times
reported that lightning rod social conservative, Bellevue Pastor Joseph Fuiten, endorsed Hutchison.

3. The Fremont Brewing Company —owned by Green Lake brewer Matt Lincecum—will celebrate its opening next Monday at the Latona Pub, 6423 Latona Ave NE, starting at 7:00 pm.

FBC makes the only organic beer produced in Seattle, and is the only Seattle brewery aiming for a zero carbon footprint in its brewing operations.

4. When we endorsed Max Vekich over Tom Albro in the race for Port Commissioner Position No. 4# last week ,  we said Albro had a "business-as-usual donors list." We listed several donations that gave us pause—like contributions from ousted state lands commissioner Doug Sutherland, Eastside developer Kemper Freeman, and a list of companies who directly benefit from the Port's largesse.

King County Citizens for Report Reform, a union-backed group that's working against Albro, has provided some more details. They crunched the numbers and report that: 73 percent of Albro's major donors ($1,000 or more) donated to outgoing status quo Port Commissioner Davis in 2005; 66 percent of Albro's large dollar donors ($500 or more) donated to Davis in 2005; and $29,405 of Albro's total contributions, 44 percent, overlap with Davis' contributors in 2005.

Davis was a central figure in the $340,000 "golden parachute" payout scandal involving former Port CEO Mic Dinsmore.
