Report from Sally Bagshaw's Party

By ElectionNerd August 18, 2009

(Ed. Note: As of 8:15, Sally Bagshaw was at 50.06 percent for Seattle City Council Position 4; David Bloom, her closest challenger, was at 18.17 percent)

Aaron Pickus reporting.

As of 8 pm, Sally Bagshaw's party at Ancient Grounds Coffee is just getting started.  There are about 15 supporters milling around inside the coffeehouse and the overhead fans are really struggling to keep the temperature down. There is a long table of hors d'oeuvres featuring those ubiquitous rolled-up sandwiches that catering companies use to shore up their bottom line.

King County council member Kathy Lambert, a Republican and a longtime friend of Bagshaw's, is looking for directions to Larry Phillips' party when she tells PubliCola that Bagshaw "knows how to make things happen and is an excellent attorney.  She's wonderful in the plans she comes up with."

Mareatha Counts, another Bagshaw supporter, worked with the candidate when Counts was at Metro and Bagshaw was at the King County Prosecutor's civil division.  Counts says that Bagshaw "took the lawyers and made them useful.  There was camaraderie."

Bagshaw doesn't have much to worry about tonight (she's killing in the primary)  and the small group attending her party contentedly hover around the free food while the candidate makes casual small talk with her supporters.
