From Larry Phillips' Party
Aaron Pickus here.
King County Executive candidate Larry Phillips is currently in fourth place, with 11.72% of the vote to Susan Hutchison's 37.4%, Dow Constantine's 22.38%, and Fred Jarrett's 12.04%.
Here at Phillips' party at the Spitfire in Belltown, the Mariners and Tigers are tied 1-1 in the 7th, and Phillips is probably wishing his contest was just as close.
Speaking from behind a music stand, Phillips tells the attentive crowd that it was (note the past tense) a "great campaign. It's been exhausting."
David Hasselhoff appears on a TV behind Phillips' head.
Phillips talks about his 1,300 donors, and his support from "all four corners of the county."
It's at this point that he's starting to lose the non-campaign supporters of the Spitfire crowd, especially around the 20-minute mark, when he says that he "drew his first breath in this county." Phillips recognizes the support of his friend on the King County Council, Larry Gossett, and jokes that he still remembers Gossett's "short basketball shorts back in the day."
After saying this, Phillips, in order to shield his eyes from the "bright future ahead," puts on some seriously cool aviator shades.
