Dorsol Plants, the young candidate who caused an unexpected buzz in the five-way race for City Council Position 4 with his energy, organizing skills, and grasp of city issues, is now working for mayoral candidate Mike McGinn. (Plants came in third in the top-two primary.)

At a meeting of the Highland Park Action Committee last night, recorded by the West Seattle Blog, Plants said he had been "brought on board specifically to help with homelessness and human services," which McGinn confirms. Plants works for a downtown advocacy group for the homeless.

In an email, Plants says he will work with McGinn "on the issues and policies surrounding homelessness, human services, and the other issues that directly effect the everyday lives of the people of Seattle."

At last night's meeting, Plants also endorsed his recent primary-election opponent David Bloom, with whom, Plants said, he'd "lined up quite a bit on a lot of things specifically involving neighborhood power."

Plants is (like most of McGinn's campaign staff, including his new communications director, Aaron Pickus) working for McGinn on a volunteer basis.
