Conservative radio host David Boze introduces Susan Hutchison at this year's Republican picnic.

Campaign finance reports posted today show that the Eastside Republican Club has maxed out to "nonpartisan" King County Executive candidate Susan Hutchison.

The Club, which describes itself as "the friendliest Republican organization in the state of Washington" and whose top objective
is "to provide financial and volunteer support for Republican candidates," gave $1,600 to the former KIRO-TV anchor on August 7.

Hutchison's campaign manager, Jordan McCarran, said the contribution came after Hutchison was the keynote speaker at the group's annual salmon fest. Other guests included Republican King County Council members Reagan Dunn and Kathy Lambert and Republican port commission candidate David Doud—who once ran against
Eastside Democratic state Rep. Ross Hunter. (Hunter, like Hutchison, is currently running for King County Executive.)

Asked whether any Eastside Democratic groups would be contributing to Hutchison, McCarren said, "If they asked us to speak at an event, we'd be happy to do it." And McCarren, who has worked for Mike Huckabee and Sam Brownback , expressed frustration that the Hutchison campaign has been pigeonholed as Republican, noting that Hutchison's staff volunteer coordinator, David Barclay, was a volunteer with the Obama campaign.
