Transpo Secretary's Directive Could Put More $ Into Rural Roads

Josh is on KUOW right now talking about the fact that federal transportation stimulus dollars have gone disproportionately to rural areas, not urban centers—a story we've mentioned a couple of times.

This morning, transportation secretary Ray LaHood urged states to spend their transportation stimulus dollars in "economically depressed areas"— a proposal that could end up directing even more money out of urban areas, which are generally doing better economically than rural and exurban areas around the country.
