Police Guild Endorses: Israel, Bagshaw, Carr
The Seattle Police Officers Guild (SPOG), the union the represents police officers, just issued its first round of endorsements.
They include: City Attorney Tom Carr (unsurprising, given Carr opponent Pete Holmes' long history as a tough watchdog on police-accountability, Position 4 candidate Sally Bagshaw, and Nick Licata challenger Jessie Israel.
SPOG has sparred with Licata over the years over police accountability issues, particularly during union contract negotiations. In a statement, SPOG president Rich O'Neill called Israel "the breath of fresh air Seattle needs." The guild also cited Bagshaw's "very valuable" work at the King County Prosecutor's office.
