Afternoon Fizz
The final campaign numbers from June are in for the City Council candidates, and they include a few surprises.
In the race for city council Position 4 (Jan Drago's seat, which she's vacating), Sally Bagshaw crushed her top opponent David Bloom in fundraising, bringing in $10,880 to Bloom's $2,630. The June numbers bring Bagshaw's and Bloom's totals to $107,660 and $45,354, respectively.
In Position 6, Marty Kaplan raked in $20,220, besting incumbent Nick Licata ($15,308) and challenger Jessie Israel ($9,158).
In the crowded Position 8 race, Bobby Forch and Mike O'Brien led the pack with $20,535 and $17,600, respectively. (David Miller, who many political insiders are calling the frontrainer, raised just $2,550).
Neither of the candidates for city attorney raised much money at all—incumbent Tom Car brought in just $8,775, while challenger Peter Holmes raised $7,474.
I posted on the latest numbers in the mayor's race earlier this week.
