Ad Wars. Identity Politics.
King County Executive candidate, county council member Dow Constantine, went on the air with a cable TV spot today. Constantine's campaign says they did a "substantial buy ... we'll be spending well over six figures..." adding that they will be "up on cable through the [August 18] primary."

The only other candidate in the race who has hit the TV screens yet is state Rep. Ross Hunter (D-48), who went up with an ad last week. Hunter's campaign wouldn't say how much the ad buy cost, but the spot is going up on prominent cable like MSNBC and CNN for at least two weeks.
According to the Public Disclosure Commission, Constantine and Hunter have right around the same amount of cash on hand—in the $200,000 range or a bit lower.

One TV critic note about the ads: Constantine's closing ad ID calls him "the Progressive Democrat for King County Executive" while Hunter's ad tag simply calls Hunter "Democrat." Hunter also calls himself a "suburban legislator" in the ad.
The pressing question: What will Susan Hutichson's ad tag be? Hutchison has roughly $200,000 on hand as well, according to the basic PDC numbers.
