And Some Film Fizz

By FilmNerd June 25, 2009

It always fascinates me when a cultural behemoth like the Oscars decides to make a change.

So, I was titillated to learn yesterday,  as reported on indieWire, that the 82nd Oscars will feature 10 nominees for Best Picture—the first time this has happened since 1943.

I guess even if an old dog can't learn new tricks, it can bring back the oldest ones.

The 10 nominees in 1943 were: Casablanca, Heaven Can Wait, The Human Comedy, In Which We Serve, Madame Curie, The More the Merrier, The Ox Bow Incident, The Song of Bernadette, and Watch on the Rhine. And the winner was ... Casablanca.
