In Chris K.'s post about the GOP attack on Rep. Jay Inslee (D-1, WA), he flags our tidbit from last week about Inslee paying high-power fundraiser Tracy Newman for fundraising work—a move we guessed might be related to Inslee's desings on the Governor's mansion.
Newman, who raised millions for Gregoire, hasn't responded to our inquiries about what she's been hired to do for Inslee, but Inslee's spokeswoman Torie Brazitis said this:
I can only speak as to Jay’s current official duties in Congress, not anything related to campaigns or fundraising.
I can tell you that Jay cares a lot about Washington state. Right now, as a Member of Congress, he’s particularly focused on getting our economy moving again, expanding health care, fighting for our state in the energy bill and securing stimulus funding for the state. Washington State is well positioned to prosper in a clean energy economy, and Jay is working make that happen.
