Quote of the Day

By Josh Feit May 13, 2009

Chris Grygiel at the SeattlePI.com continues his parade of Q&As with local candidates. Today, Grygiel—who's single-handedly keeping the PI relevant—interviews King County Council Member Larry Phillips. Phillips is running for King County Executive.

Quote of the interview—Phillips says:
"I've chaired the budget committee four times, each time, it's been in crisis."

Okay, okay, I'm taking Phillips a little out of context for a laugh. Phillips, in fact, does go on to explain that he dealt with the budget woes. His point being: He's the most prepared for the task at hand. Perhaps.

There's a lingering flaw in Phillips' logic. Why, if he's been the budget chair so many times, does the budget keep winding up in crisis?
