Obama's '08 Campaign Manager Stops by Amazon
Barack Obama's 2008 campaign manager David Plouffe stopped by Amazon.com yesterday to promote his upcoming book, The Audacity to Win (which is coming out in November).
Among other things, Plouffe talked to the Amazon gang about the Iowa causes; Obama's speech at Mile High Stadium, and "Joe the Plumber."
Amazon's blog, Omnivoracious, posts some clips of Plouffe's talk.

Even better, though, they got Plouffe to name his five favorite political books. Plouffe includes one of my favorite political books (books period, actually)—Hunter S. Thompson's Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72.

"By the day after the debate people were tired of Joe the Plumber," Plouffe says, citing the running focus groups the Obama camp was doing during the campaign. "There would be focus groups where people would say, 'Just knock it off with Joe the F'ing plumber,'" as McCain made the mistake to keep going there.
