Re: The Lobbyist of the Year
There are lots of emails coming in nominating people for PubliCola's lobbyist of the year. Here's one I thought was pretty smart:
I nominate Tim Eyman. Even though he's almost in his political grave, he haunts our political system with threats that he'll rise from the dead one more time. The state Democrats who control the legislature and governor's office are more scared of him than they are of alienating and fucking over their entire base. Hands down, he wins by default, because our electeds let him set the parameters of all the other issues they work on.
I will say, I don't think Tim Eyman will be in his political grave until his lone big funder, Woodinville businessman Micaheal Dunmire stops supporting Eyman. Dunmire resuscitated Tim Eyman's latest small-government initiative, I-1033, with a $300,000 contribution in March (bringing the campaign's total donations to $324,000).
