After Lull in Attacks, Rep. Reichert in Democratic Crosshairs Once Again

By Chris Kissel April 29, 2009

After laying off Rep. Dave Reichert (R-WA, 8) for a couple of weeks, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is at it again. The DCCC sent out a release in anticipation of a vote this week on the "Credit Card Holder's Bill of Rights," which limits the ability of credit card companies to raise fees and interest rates. Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA,1) is listed as a cosponsor on the bill.

Here's a bit of what the press release (which really just threatens more press releases) had to say:
In these tough economic times, when responsible consumers play by the rules, their credit card company should not be allowed to drive them deeper into debt with excessive fees and unfair interest rate hikes... Representative Reichert should stand with families trying to dig out of debt during these tough times, not credit card companies charging responsible customers excessive fees and sky-high interest rates.

Americans United for Change, a liberal non profit, also hit Reichert last week as part of a new nation-wide TV ad against the GOP, produced with the national labor union AFSCME, that will air nationally for the next couple weeks. They're also sending press releases under the banner "The 100 Days of No."

From the press release aimed at Reichert:
In the first 100 days of this historic presidency, as our country faces the toughest economic challenges in generations, Congressman Dave Reichert issued a chorus of “NOs” showing the people of Washington who he truly represents: The party of Rush Limbaugh.

The release highlights Reichert's no votes on the stimulus and the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and anticipated his opposition to the Obama budget plan (which just passed the House today; Reichert and the rest of the GOP delegation voted against the proposal).

Reichert did not call us a back.
