What? It's James Beard season again?
Today the James Beard Foundation announced its long list of semifinalists. On March 18, this list gets winnowed down to actual nominees. The actual awards ceremony happens May 5.
A few years back, the biggest culinary honor in the land started teasing out additional interest (and shining a light on more chefs and restaurants) by releasing this preliminary semifinalist list. And it's a pretty good showing for the home team this year, with plenty of familiar names contending for the national awards like Best New Restaurant and Outstanding Chef.
