I’m answering you via post, Margo: What up with Cremant’s mystery closure?

As I posted last week, Cremant’s owner send ’round a missive Tuesday last inviting any and all to come eat the larder and drink the cellar…and hoist a broom. The ostensible reason? To help the Madrona French restaurant plot its next step.

The next day I bugged owner Mike McConnell by phone for details, to no avail. Cremant’s site is still up. Its phone (as of yesterday afternoon, even) still has its "We are currently serving…" message on.

A Yelper mentioned on that site that he/she had dropped in for dinner last Thursday night and ran into the landlord, who said "they had just disappeared."

Note on Cremant’s door last Friday: "We are sorry to announce that Cremant is no more…"

I will miss that solid little bastion of French simplicity. But surely I’m not the only one who needs a little closure on this closure.
