Seattle's diverse food truck scene just keeps on growing, and since we last surveyed the scene, a bunch of new ones have sprung up around the city, ready to satisfy your curbside meal cravings. We talked to five of these newcomers to see what they have to offer.
Swift and Savory
Two best friends started this food truck in February which sells an eclectic take on Northwest comfort food with seasonal and local ingredients. Find them at wineries and breweries around Seattle selling anything from chipotle pork tacos, pork belly bao, and chocolate chip bread pudding with whiskey syrup.
Nibbles
This husband and wife team have been slinging their "Southwest fusion" food at the Des Moines Farmers Market since 2014. Now that their food has gone mobile, it's even easier for people to get their fix of smoky meatloaf sandwiches, chili, and chalupas. Not feeling particularly peckish? Nibbles offers more petite servings of their menu items too, like single tacos. (Gluten free and vegan options available)
Anchor End Pretzel Shoppe
Two sisters with a background in the restaurant industry now sell pretzel sandwiches from their swirly yellow and white refurbished vintage trailer. The menu is small, but the effort put into making their own pretzel buns (French toast battered sea salt, anyone?) and fillings such as pulled pork, roast beef, and homemade veggie patties ensure that any choice you make will be a delicious one.
Caveman Food Truck
Meat on a stick–as simple as street food gets. Look for this food truck at local breweries and pair a pint with any of Caveman's offerings of skewers, salads, and sliders. From the homemade marinades to the pork belly used to make their own bacon, ingredients are sourced locally. Don't fret if you're not a carnivore though–Caveman's menu also has vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and paleo-friendly options.
Samurai Noodle
The neighborhood ramen favorite now has its own food truck up and running, splitting its time between South Lake Union and Alki Beach. The truck is currently serving some of their restaurant's most popular dishes (tonkotsu and tampopo ramen, sumo rice bowl), but there are also some truck-only specials such as shaved ice with housemade syrups—perfect for summer. Four sushi rolls are also on the menu, freshly made at the truck. If you're lucky, you might even get a glimpse of Yoshihiro Saito (formerly of Fuji Sushi) who is overseeing the sushi production.
