A gourmet salad lunch shop coming to downtown this summer


Chef Jason Stratton of Spinasse and Artusi is taking on a new county and a new neighborhood with his project Aragona. Named for a region in Spain, Aragona will serve modern, seasonally driven Spanish fare inspired by Stratton’s extensive travels to the country. He's not ready to reveal the exact location downtown, but says Aragona may open by late summer or early fall.

Tap Station
Kyle Duce, Locöl Barley and Vine’s owner, snatched up the flower shop next door to turn it into a tap station. It carries eight wines from tap wine juggernaut Proletariat and six to eight local draft beers. A variety of containers will be available for purchase to take camping, biking, snowboarding, or just to take home. Duce also told Eater Seattle that he hopes to involve other chefs around the area for community classes, and plans to open in about six weeks.

Teachers Lounge
“I call it Gastro-teria,” Perryn Wright told Eater Seattle. Wright, who recently left Cicchetti, and his wife Desiree are planning a cafeteria-style lounge in Greenwood. Wright wants to open doors in early June and will be open daily from 5 to midnight.

Ten Sushi
Queen Anne View is calling it a “sushi swap,”
as Ten Sushi will be replacing Genki Sushi, which closed in March. It appears that the business license applicant for the 500 Mercer Street space is a former Genki Sushi operations manager.

Three friends are bringing a gourmet salad to-go concept from NYC to downtown Seattle, reports Eater Seattle. With the help of Kurt Dammeier (Beecher’s), the trio will open in the former Quiznos space on third and Marion this summer. Expect lots of meat toppings and at least 15 dressing choices. They’ll also build your salad on the spot. Check the Facebook page for updates.

Abay Ethiopian Restaurant
CHS sends word that a new Ethiopian restuarant is coming to the Hill at the corner of 10th Ave E and E Miller. Ower Blen Mamo Teklu plans to be open daily from 11 to 11 Monday through Thursday and 11 to 2am on weekends.

The Masonry
A new wood-fired pizza and craft beer bar is coming to Lower Queen Anne, according to Queen Anne View, from Lucas Neve (formerly at Cafe Lago). With a target date of July 1, Neve said he will offer growler fills from his rotating craft beer selection at 20 Roy Street, along with wine choices.


Von Trapp’s
The ever-popular beer hall has added happy hour to the menu; it runs 4 to 6 on weekdays and noon to 4 Saturday and Sunday. Select drafts and house wines go for $4, cocktails for $8, and Rossbacher for $5. On the food menu: pretzel bites or a mini spicy brat for $3.50, a $6 doner kebab, and that happy hour staple, Nurembergs in a blanket (three wee sausages in brioche) for $6.
