The vegan bakery Violet Sweet Shoppe is moving in next to Bill the Butcher.

Ballard's newest bar is a sibling to Po Dog, sporting a nautical theme and serving decked-out hot dogs through a porthole window. The NW Market Street space is open from 4 to 2.

Pat’s Panini’s?
Though it has no official name just yet, a  Wallingford resident by the name of Pat opened his own panini stand serving five hot varieties for $5 or less, according to Wallyhood. Pat worked in the food business before becoming a house painter, which he has found to be a seasonal profession. Visit Pat Monday through Saturday from 10 to 6.

Radiator Whiskey
While not quite making its April 1 debut goal, the whiskey-filled smoked meatery officially opened on Wednesday. Owner Dan Bugge, chefs Tyler Palagi and Charlie Garrison, and bar manager Sara Rosales start serving at 4 and stay open until midnight for those after-work revelers.

Harry’s Chicken Joint
Harry’s has moved in to the former Meander’s Kitchen space on California Avenue in West Seattle, serving mammoth pieces of fried chicken. Owner Bruce Cougan eventually plans to Sunday dinners and is expanding the menu to include additional types of po’boys and a smoked grilled cheese sandwich.

Pizzeria Credo
West Seattle blog announced
the “not too soft” opening of the new pizza place on Tuesday. Peer through the window at 4520 California SW to see the fresh pies being made in the wood oven. It may be just enough to entice you to walk in.

Cafe ABoDegas
Ever tried beet cookies? This experimental cafe is open on 15th Ave E after owner Jazmine Knaggs and her crew took it over just last week, reports CHS, which also explains the mixed caps name. Right now the cafe is open weekdays from 6am to 9pm; the goal is to keep lunch around $10. On Wednesday (the first day of serving), the staff offered a chicken wrap with spring mix, tomato, asparagus, mozzarella, béarnaise sauce, and raspberry drizzle, according to the Facebook page. The cafe also serves many gluten-free and vegan options.


The Viking Tavern
The Viking Tavern, which MyBallard describes as “a staple of the community since 1950,” will be no more at the end of the month. It's being demolished to make way for a new apartment complex. Come visit before its April 30 closing date to see an oil painting by Ethan Jack Harrington that honors the iconic watering hole; prints are available for purchase.


Mezcaleria Oaxaca
Queen Anne favorite Mezcaleria Oaxaca is expanding to Capitol Hill and plans to add a rooftop patio to a former auto repair shop space at Summit and Pine. Offering a variety of mezcals and favorite food items from La Carta de Oaxaca and its sibling in Queen Anne, the new establishment is slated to open in late summer.

Wickedly Saucy Restaurant and Lounge
Although details are scant, Eater Seattle shared the spotting of a liquor license in the window of the former Night Kitchen. The space at 216 Stewart Street will be taken over by something called Wickedly Saucy Restaurant and Lounge.

Drunky’s Two Shoe BBQ
Coming to Fremont from the owner of 9 Million in Unmarked Bills Nate Rezac: a new barbecue joint with meats cooked for 6 to 16 hours, reports Eater Seattle. Look for the opening in a couple of months in a small 800-square-foot space on Leary Way. Rezac is also adding a bar, which he says will open later. Check Facebook for updates.

Patty’s Eggnest
Patty’s Eggnest plans to open its tenth Washington locatoin in Ravenna. Each is independently owned, but all serving nine varieties of eggs benedict, according to Ravenna Blog. Look out for the new breakfast hotspot at 2404 NE 65th Street.

Violet Sweet Shoppe
Ironically situated next door to Bill the Butcher, a vegan bakery and cafe is rolling in on NE 45th Street next month, says Ravenna Blog. The owners have already exceeded their goal of raising $6,000 with a Kickstarter, showing support from the neighborhood.

Conception Hermosillo
With little details, Ravenna Blog found out that the old Casa D’Italia space has been leased again. A sign in the window says it will feature “a variety of specialties encompassing the Mediterranean region.”

Bourbon and Bones
Think bourbon and fried chicken for this new project in the works by The Wandering Goose's Michael Law. In the former Anita's Crepes space on Leary Way NE, Law (with business partner Mike McConnell of Via Tribunali and Caffe Vita among others) is bringing merging his southern cooking with some European stylings. While hoping to open in July, Law will continue to spend some time at the Wandering Goose.

Cloud City Coffee
Ravenna Blog heard
from the managers of the Sand Point Tennis Center that is currently being built at Magnuson Park that Cloud City will be the cafe operator inside the 6-court building. Although it doesn’t look it now, the address will be 6327 NE 74th Street.


Ivar’s Salmon House
After a three-month renovation, the waterfront restaurant announced it’s reopening with an updated décor and menu. To celebrate, the Whalemaker Lounge is hosting a rotating series of themed drink specials and events called Spring Cheers. Come fill the more than 20 new seats and take in the enhanced panoramic views.
