Delancey’s new sibling bar Essex is taking a stand in support of R74. Every Wednesday until Election Day, one hundred percent of food sales will be donated to Washington United for Marriage. We suggest you order the Red Medicine.
Ethan Stowell’s Ballard Pizza Company is bringing the pies to you. The just-launched delivery service is free (with a $20 minimum order), covers most of Ballard, and is available every day from 5 to 10 (hours of operation are 11 to 11). Order online or call 206-659-6033.
Bears are to blame for some major damage to Ballard Bee Company’s hives at Local Roots farm in Snoqualmie. Owner Corky Luster told My Ballard the bears absconded with $1,000 worth of honey, a major loss for the company.
The sixth annual Turkey Trot is but a month away, and organizers are in search for volunteers. All the 5K’s proceeds benefit the Ballard Food Bank. The race on November 22 begins at 9 in Sunset Hill and ends at Golden Gardens Park at 11:30. Want to help? E-mail Erin MacDonald.

In conjunction with new exhibit Elles: Women Artists from the Centre Pompidou, Paris, Taste restaurant at Seattle Art Museum is highlighting ingredients from local women farmers and artisans. Taste executive chef Craig Hetherington used Simon Kandor’s 1903 cookbook, The Way to a Man’s Heart: The Settlement Cookbook, as inspiration for the menu.

Lunch is now served weekdays from 11:30 to 2:30 at Daniel’s Broiler. The lakeside restaurant also recently added a weekend brunch happening between 10 and 2. Check out the two menus here.

Madison Park Conservatory is putting its own spin on Restaurant Week with a “6 Days of the Conservatory” special: For the next two nights, and next Tuesday through Thursday, the food (but not booze) menu is going for half price. Taking part requires hunting down a password, which can be found on facebook or twitter at noon each day.

Veggie Grill is rolling out the deals every day from 4 to 6. A new happy hour menu includes appetizers such as wings or nachos paired with a PBR for $4.95.

Mycologists will want to check out Fresh Picked Seattle's roster of upcoming mushroom-centric events, including a free medicinal mushroom lecture on Friday, October 19 from 5 to 6 at Pharmaca.
