Cameo McRoberts to Chef at New Vessel

The next gig for the former Little Water Cantina sous chef.

It ain’t easy getting news out of Vessel GM Jim Romdall, who first confirmed to the Sauced blog in September that the cocktail bar would re-open on Olive Way in the space that held the original El Gaucho restaurant, but today we have another tidbit:

Romdall confirms that Cameo McRoberts will run the kitchen in the second iteration of Vessel.

McRoberts was last seen—for a short time, anyway—at Pop Kitchen, now a Wolfgang Puck joint. Before that she was the sous chef at Eastlake Mexican eatery Little Water Cantina. And before that she was executive chef at Kathy Casey Studios. Rick Bayless’s Frontera Grill in Chicago is another former site of her sous cheffing.

McRoberts, who made countless cocktails while working for Casey and has been spied behind the bar at Walrus and the Carpenter, seems like a good fit for a menu that will be designed to pair well with cocktails.

Vessel will reopen at its new location by the end of the year.
