As has been widely reported in the local media, Scott Simpson, chef and part-owner of Lunchbox Laboratory — recently relocated from Ballard to South Lake Union — has died at the age of 38.

The cause of death has not been reported. [Update: Nancy Leson of the Seattle Times has reported the sad news that Simpson, who suffered from bipolar disorder, took his own life.]

Our sincere condolences to Simpson’s family, friends, and the many dedicated diners who loyally followed him wherever he made his food—first at Blue Onion Bistro and Fork, and most recently at Lunchbox Lab.
